What is radio frequency?
Radio frequency has been used as a cosmetic treatment for several years with the first cosmetic radio frequency device hitting the market in 2002. It gained popularity due to its low risk of complication as well as the limited downtime required after treatment. It is heat that is used to treat a variety of skin concerns. The heat can be applied in various ways to target different parts of the skin, giving each treatment a different use. It is also safe for use year-round. Now let’s look at some of the ways radio frequency can be used to treat the neck.
TruSculpt iD
TruSculpt iD is a body sculpting modality that can be used to treat the stubborn fat under the chin. This treatment is used to define the jaw line and tone the neck. This quick and painless treatment uses radio frequency to heat the tissue which melts the fat without causing damage to the surrounding skin. It works best when completed in a series of 2 treatments and will have noticeable results 8-12 weeks after treatment. It only takes 15 minutes and has virtually no downtime. Afterwards the treated skin will be red and warm to the touch however this will fade quickly, allowing you to continue with your day and activities as usual. However, it is important to keep the area treated cool. This means no workouts, hot showers, or saunas for the rest of the day.
Secret RF
Secret RF is a combination treatment optimized for skin tightening. It is a microneedling device that simultaneously delivers radio frequency energy. Safe for use almost anywhere on the body but most often used to treat the face, neck, and chest. In this treatment the radio frequency is delivered via the needle tips, making it very precise and customizable. This also means the energy is being delivered under the surface of the skin. It’s then able to target the collagen matrix and send signals for cell renewal. This treatment works best when treating textural issues such as static lines, scarring, and skin laxity. Prepare to be in the treatment room for 1 – 1 ½ hours. This includes the necessary time it takes to numb the skin prior to treating. Secret RF is uncomfortable but not intolerable, especially after numbing. After treatment prepare to be red and a little puffy. The treated skin will need to be kept clean and cool for the next 48 hours. This means no makeup or gym visits. Typically, your skin will look back to normal within 24 hours, feel back to normal within a few days, and will have visible improvements 8 weeks after treatment.
